| 2 Pipefish--same family as seahorse Pipe fish close relatives of the seahorse, are almost transparent when first born. The pipe fish gets its name from its long snout, which looks like a tube or a pipe. It has a long slim body. Male pipe fish, like seahorses, have an unusual pouch on their abdomen in which they carry the eggs. The female fish places the eggs in this pouch, where they hatch and remain until they can take care of themselves. Seahorses often wrap their tails around the pipe fish and ride! |
